About the Author
Andreas Köstenberger is Professor of New Testament at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and also serves as editor of one of the most prestigious academic journals, The Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. He reside swith his family in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Raymond Bouchoc is a computer specialist who has earned the Ph.D. in biblical studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I agree with Mr. Hite "If you have an interest in the Greek New Testament the Book Study Concordance is a must have in your library. Breaking down Greek words BY BOOK is an excellent way to analyze the text and the word frequency lists for each book allow you to see keywords more easily. While a number of software packages can do this type of reporting this book is invaluable for quick reference." It is also handy if you are not near your computer.At the same time I agree with Mr. Todd "A book by by book study of terms used can be of a great help to any exegete who wishes to study the vocabulary of a given writer for example.The NT writers often used the same term in a different way in the same letter or Gospel.This concordance gives enough line context to enable one to see how that term is used in any given NT writing."I use this with Rogers Exegetical Key, Concordances by Moulton and Geden, Friberg and Clapp, Kolenberger and Swanson, along with the Readers Lexicon by Burer while I have my Greek New Testament open before me.I not only like this book I almost need it.Andreas J. Köstenberger needs praise for a job well done.Note:Also the projected book "Going Deeper with New Testament Greek: An Intermediate Study of the Grammar and Syntax of the New Testament" should prove to be an excellent companion.

It may be difficult to imagine the need for another concordance in your library, especially with the software capabilities today. But The Book Study Concordance of the Greek New Testament is far from just another concordance.First and foremost, The Book Study Concordance is based on the 27th edition of the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece, rather than a translation of the New Testament. This gives the reader an open glimpse into the underlying text behind most modern translations and provides a unique opportunity for examining how each New Testament book uses various Greek terms. Which leads to the second standout feature of The Book Study Concordance: canonical organization rather than alphabetical. The Book Study Concordance seeks to provide individual analysis of each New Testament book, and thus follows the canonical order (i.e. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, etc.). Moreover, within this canonical examination and analysis, The Book Study Concordance is uniquely formatted to aid the exegetical task of the reader. Each entry provides the reader with key statistical data about the book (total word count, number of words occurring at least 10 times, number of words occurring once, and words whose occurrences in the New Testament book account for at least 25% of occurrences in the entire New Testament), followed by a traditional-style book specific concordance of the Greek text, and two frequency lists (alphabetical and occurrence order).Personally, I have found this book helpful not only for the various tasks associated with exegesis and interpretation of the New Testament, but also with translation and obtaining a brief grammatical glance of any given author on a macro scale. Currently I am working through a personal translation project for Paul's letter to the Philippians and The Book Study Concordance has on numerous occasions been my go-to resource for gathering a bird’s eye view of how Paul uses specific terms throughout the letter. This has been beneficial in a number of ways and has allowed me to be more consistent in my understanding of Paul's letter and allowed me to work through the each specific passage with a better understanding of Paul through broader lenses.The Book Study Concordance of the Greek New Testament is much more than another concordance. The benefit of this mammoth book is indispensable for the student of the New Testament and invaluable to the task of New Testament exegesis. My only regret is not having this resource in my library sooner.
Just got my Book Study Concordance, definitely seems worth its weight if you know what I mean. Seems useful for book study, keywords/themes, and book by book Greek vocab. lists.I was a little disappointed that there is not a similar book study concordance for the Old Testament.Also, being a math nerd I noticed that percentages were truncated and not rounded; i.e., 2/3 = 66% instead of 67& (they didn't round). I thought this was a little weird, but oh well. Maybe they will change that in subsequent editions.
This is more of a correction to the previous reviewer's score of only one star based on the on the fact that this book gives no verb parsing or other grammatical help.Does he not realise that this is a Concordance?It is not an Analytical Lexicon, which it seems he mistakes it for.Therefore it is not meant to give grammatical information of the kind he would like. The book itself is of very good quality in terms of its physical materials.Sewn binding, very clear quality print and well set out.A book by by book study of terms used can be of a great help to any exegete who wishes to study the vocabulary of a given writer for example.The NT writers often used the same term in a different way in the same letter or Gospel.This concordance gives enough line context to enable one to see how that term is used in any given NT writing.Kostenberger and Bouchoc have provided the NT student with a very helpful tool. Whilst it does not render the use of a standard Concordance superflous, it certainly gives an added usefulness and angle to concordance work.
