Although I appreciated Mr. Richards' enthusiasm about the diet and what it can do, this book is nowhere near the "complete" guide to the Atkins Diet. I see it more as an introduction than a solid reference. I ordered this book because I wanted a reference that was newer than the 2006 official Atkins book that I checked out from the library and used to get us started. As an example, Mr. Richards does not include a listing of food types and their carb counts, so it's hard to track your carb intake, which is key to success. His brief descriptions of the different phases are a good start, but leave many questions unanswered. His recipes are creative and appealing, but poorly written. In the recipe for "Atkins Friendly Oatmeal," oatmeal is not included in the list of ingredients or in the cooking instructions. In "Lunchtime Chili," the recipe calls for "80 oz. steak (boneless)," but doesn't give instructions on whether it should be cut into cubes or ground. And why not "5lbs." instead of "80 oz."? Also, he does list carb counts for each recipe, but not net carbs. This would be a OK companion to a more complete book or worthwhile for the recipes (if you can figure them out), but it's not "complete."

I had tried some of its recipes and it is very delicious and very healthy.This diet is being popular day by day and it is effective too. Must try.
Great introduction to the Atkins diet with great recipes to keep me going with a varied & healthy dietThere's been so much miss-information about the Atkins diet over the years, which prevented me from trying it out years ago. Thankfully books like John's have come along to dispel the miss-information. The introduction alone was great, but the recipes are what have really kept me coming back to this book to explore new meals.Having this book on my kindle app available with me everywhere I go has made it so easy to investigate new recipes and buy ingredients without shopping lists/etc.If your considering the Atkins diet - definitely recommend considering this book!
